Citizen's Programming Committee
The charge of Harlan's Citizen's Programming
Selection Committee is as follows:
To be responsible for the selection of channels to be carried on
and portray to the community the value of HMU Cable Television
programming services. Committee decisions will be based on the
analysis of data and information and recommendations provided by the
broadband communications staff. Channel programming selection should
be responsive to HMU Cable TV subscribers offering entertainment
services that are economically viable.
This seven person committee is appointed by the
Harlan Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees. The term of each
appointment is two years. Their primary responsibilities are to
make selection decisions on cable television programming, per
financial parameters as given by the HMU Board of Trustees, and to
serve as a private-sector advocate of the programming choices.
Other responsibilities include:

Ensuring that cable television
programming choices are consistent with community standards,
market demands, and HMU's goals and objectives.

Serving as advocates to the
community by promoting the goals and successes and advocating
support for programming choices.

Fostering, encouraging and
developing community programming and utilization of access
capabilities.
